Weerawong C&P represented EECO in the U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation Development Project joint investment agreement for the development of U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation City

     

Weerawong C&P represented the Office of the Eastern Economic Corridor, Government of Thailand in the U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation Development Project joint investment agreement for the development of U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation City. The private sector company that received the concession is the BBS Joint Venture (consisting of Bangkok Airways, BTS Group Holdings and Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction). The agreement was signed at Government House on 19 June 2020 and witnessed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The project has an investment value of nearly 300,000 million baht, which is regarded as the largest project of this year in Thailand and the ASEAN region and is the largest public private partnership (PPP) investment project ever made in Thailand. This is the first joint venture PPP investment in airports in Thailand.

U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation City are considered to be important conditions for the success of EEC development in accordance with the Government of Thailand objectives. The three major airports in Thailand, namely Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport and U-Tapao Airport can support a total of 200 million passengers per year.
